Ethical brand video – front page website video production (case study)

The brief

NdLd is a highly acclaimed garden design studio based in Brighton. Nick, the Director, came to us wanting an engaging front-page website promotional video to give the website a new feel and convey their personable approach to the industry. He wanted a conversational voice-over blended with layered, cinematic film shots of their garden designs shown in the best possible light.

The approach

The first challenge was getting the script right – drafted with the correct tone for the desired audience. The next step was recording the voice-over in a conversational tone for the video; getting the intonation correct was a big part. This took a few takes (coupled with a few pints!) to loosen up the feel and make it ‘casual’ sounding as intended. We then ventured out at dawn and again at dusk on a few sunny days, to capture some of NdLd’s gardens in the wonderful light that these times of day offer for photography, filming and video production. Next, capturing some shots of Nick, both in office and on location, further emphasised the personable touch that the video was set to convey. And then as ever, selecting the correct music was also key.
